Pre-School Programs
We provide a child-centered program, where all are given the opportunity to develop through their own personal learning style. Our curriculum is designed to achieve social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth. In conjunction with play based experiences your child will have opportunities to explore science questions and engage in pre-math and language learning activities. We believe it is important to give young children opportunities to express ideas, thought and feelings. Through interactions with others they learn cooperation. Activities are chosen that are interesting, inviting, open ended and process oriented. Creative arts are included to educate the whole child. Research shows that music learning supports all learning and a weekly Music Together® class is included for all children.
- Pre-K Class (4-5 yrs)
Our creative curriculum includes age appropriate experiences to aid social & emotional, cognitive, physical and language development. We establish a balance between routine experiences and opportunities for exploration and play based learning.
"Handwriting without Tears" and Music Together are included in the curriculum. (See Music Together Preschool below) Science exploration, pre-math activities, manipulative experiences, and encouragement of conversational skills are just a few of the areas included in our Pre K Readiness curriculum.
Our small class size allows for more individual attention to each child's needs by our certified teacher.
- Nursery Class (2 1/2 - 3 yrs)

- 2-Year-Old Class (2 yrs)
Developmentally appropriate experiences are provided to aid in socialization skills. Children learn best in a playful environment where they are giving the opportunity to explore and experiment.
Process oriented art experiences provide sensory stimulation with finger paint, play-doh, mud, shaving creme and much more! Music Together is included in the curriculum.NEW CLASS Forming in January - 2 yr old Socialization and Exploration Class - Wed & Fri early afternoon 1 1/2 hrs. A great introduction to preschool!
- Break Time Club (3-5 yrs)
Parents, let us help out when you need a BREAK to do something for yourself!
**AVAILABLE DURING SCHOOL YEAR ONLY Join the club and we just need 24 hours notice to hold a spot for your child to spend some time having fun with us. Prior registration is required and available slots are limited. Fees are either per hour or for full 2.75 hour time. Call us for pricing information.
- Stay & Play (2 - 5 yrs)
Great for a Mom's Group - Spend some quality time playing and exploring with your children in our age appropriate environment.

Five Weeks of Summer Fun for your 2 to 5 yr old!
Each week is a new exciting theme with a SPECIAL EVENT planned for each day and every Friday is a WATER PLAY DAY!

Learning Center Programs
By providing developmentally appropriate programs for young children, we strive to inspire their creative spirit. All children have wonderful ideas and need outlets to shine. What a great way to build self-esteem and confidence!
- Handwriting Without Tears® (4-5 yrs)
 Using the "Handwriting without Tears" curriculum, our HWT trained teacher will use fun multi-sensory techniques to aide children in gaining confidence with their beginning writing skills. Proper grip, fine motor skills, correct letter formation, beginning phonics and much more is covered with a variety of resources, music and manipulatives. Instruction is provided either in groups or by private tutoring. Call to schedule tutoring
- Art Exploration (2-5 yrs)
 Self expression through age appropriate art activities will inspire your child's inner artist! Exposure to different ways of painting, collage, sculpture and printing among other activities is combined with exploring colors and textures. All is done in a developmentally appropriate way where the process of creativity is more important than the product. Monday afternoons 12:30 - 1:30 PM

- Yoga for Kids (3 - 6 yrs )
A fun, Creative approach to yoga.
The use of animated poses and basic stretching exercises promote strength, flexibility, coordination and body awareness. Breathing and visualization techniques teach kids how to focus, relax and develop self-control.Taught by a Certified Children's Yoga Teacher Watch for return of this program soon

- Mom & Baby Yoga (4 weeks to crawling)
Infant Yoga focuses on strengthening the spiritual, emotional and physical bond between parent and child. Using interactive, slow-moving postures the class is ideal for mommies and babies 4 weeks to crawling. Classes assist the development of your child's motor skills. - Sing, SIGN & Play (newborns to 5 yrs )
 Sing, Sign, and Play is a fun filled hour of laughter and learning to share with your child. While singing songs and reading stories your children will learn to sign using American Sign Language and the "Sign2Me" program. Signing with your baby is as simple as waving hello. You will learn signs for feelings, animals, popular nursery rhymes, food, and more.
If you sign with your baby, you will:
*reduce frustration with communication
*strengthen your parent-infant bond
*jumpstart language development with signs
*stimulate intellectual development
*enhance infant self-esteem

- Piano Kids (4 yrs and up)
Small Group Classes for ages 4 yrs and up which introduces children to Piano Playing.
Method used is "Music Moves for Piano" developed by Marilyn Lowe in cooperation with Edwin E. Gordon.
KEYBOARD GAMES CLASSES:
Activities include singing, chanting, moving, responding to musical patterns, creating at the keyboard, and playing short pieces. Activities are developmentally appropriate for ages 4 & 5 yrs. Children will learn to organize the sounds of music using syllables, imitate musical patterns accurately, sing in tune, move with the beat, and develop beginning piano technique using rote instruction.
Class is 45 minutes long and children receive a
Piano book with CD.
LEVEL 1 AND UP:
The audiation approach to learning piano continues as the students engage in more advanced work with tonal and rhythm patterns, understanding the structure of the music they are playing and having varied experiences of improvising and creating their own songs. This class is appropriate for ages 6 & up.

This is a wonderful opportunity to share some quality time with your child as they explore, create and learn social skills. Activities are age appropriate in our creative, play-based environment. - Art Exploration Summer Camp (2-5yrs)
Children will experience and create with numerous art mediums and discover their inner artist. Activities will include: Soft sculptures, tissue paper art, splatter painting and much more. Presented in a developmentally appropriate way where the process is more important than the product.Class is held on Thursday's 9:15 - 10:15 for 5 weeks

There are many ways for families to participate in our musical programs. Join us for some musical fun in a playful, non-performance oriented environment where families find new ways to interact musically with each other.
- Birthday Parties -Our place or yours (1-5 yrs)
Have a Musical Birthday for your 1 to 5 yr old!
We can come to you for 45 minutes of music & movement or have your party in our Calverton Preschool location.
At your location: The children will enjoy singing familiar songs, dancing with scarves, parachute play, stretchy band, doing the limbo, playing instruments including egg shakers, drums and assorted rhythm instruments. We do ask the parents to join in and enjoy the FUN!!
In our location: Choose between 1 1/2 hours or 2 hours, depending on whether you want to include time for Pizza and cake. Program includes playing with age appropriate toys, maze and tunnel games, craft activity, 1/2 hour of music & movement, time for cake and/or pizza (which you supply), music playing throughout and FUN, FUN, FUN!!

- Music Together® Classes (0-5 yrs)
 Music Together® is an internationally recognized early childhood music program for babies, toddlers, preschoolers,
and the adults who love them.
First offered to the public in 1987, it pioneered the concept of a research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement.
Music Together classes are based on the recognition that all children are musical. In our family oriented classes the adults create a weekly music making event for their children. Because each family receives CD’s of the music from class, the parents and children are able to take the experience home and continue the process of music learning through play.
Lyrical Children Inc. offers classes in several locations from Setauket to Southold. Class times vary but include daytime, evening and weekend offerings. For more information visit our Music Together page.
- Music Together Preschool Programs (1-5 yrs)
 Let us bring the Music Together Preschool curriculum to your preschool.
This research based program aligns with standards set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and supports the Head Start Performance Standards. Many schools have a music program, but these programs usually fall somewhere along a spectrum, with music education at one end and music entertainment at the other. Watch this short video The Music Together preschool music program, incorporates music education into the daily classroom routine. - Music Together for Home Schoolers (5 - 9 yrs)
This class involves activities suited to the interests of older children. Parents still have an active role and younger siblings can join in the family style music making. We will do game activities, dancing, jam sessions, dramatic play and more structured work in rhythm and tonality. Class is 45 minutes and uses the current Music Together collection.
